LEDGERLATCH · Developer guide
Keep receipts with your expenses, without an app account
A practical, pre-release guide to a local iPhone expense ledger: receipt photos, OCR drafts, audio notes, encrypted backups and careful PDF sharing.
LedgerLatch 1.0 is waiting for Apple review. Not publicly available yet. No release date or approval is promised.
Start with one everyday ledger
A payment amount often loses its context: what was it for, where is the receipt, and why did you spend it? LedgerLatch is designed to keep an entry, its note and an attached receipt photo together on your iPhone. It does not require an app server account.
A three-minute receipt routine
After a purchase, create an expense and attach the receipt photo. Use local OCR to prepare a draft, then check the amount and details yourself before saving. Recognition can make mistakes. Add a short note when the printed receipt does not explain the purchase.
When you cannot type
Attach an audio note while the details are fresh. Audio recording and speech-to-text are separate features. Optional Apple on-device speech recognition depends on supported device and language capabilities; unsupported languages do not silently switch to cloud recognition.
Review before sharing
Use charts to review your own records and choose a PDF export when you need a readable copy. The exported PDF is an ordinary, unencrypted file outside the protected ledger. Check its contents and destination before sharing. Deleting an entry later does not revoke copies you have already exported.
A local ledger still needs a backup plan
Local encrypted storage is not the same as an automatic backup. Choose whether and where to keep an encrypted backup, and manage external copies separately. Use a unique password with at least eight characters. Face ID is optional; no security system protects against every threat.
What is free, and what requires Pro?
One ledger with unlimited entries is free, including OCR, voice, charts, PDF export and encrypted backup/restore. Multiple ledgers and alternate icons require the planned US$6.99 one-time Pro purchase; local prices may differ. There is no subscription. These are developer-provided pre-release product details, not an independent review.
Who this approach suits
This workflow suits someone who wants to manually keep personal expenses and receipts together without an app server account. It is not a promise of bank syncing, automatic tax filing, accounting compliance or collaborative bookkeeping. Review the product facts and privacy details before deciding whether it fits your needs.
